Mork, Harlen

Harlen “Harley” Mork, 71, of Wisconsin Rapids, died peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2011, at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16th, at Taylor, Vollert, and Jennings Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Barton will officiate. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post 485. Harlen was born October 19, 1939, in Waupaca, to Edwin and Marian (Harris) Mork. His marriage to Karrolan Thomas ended in divorce. He married Ada Lafler on September 18, 1981, in Wisconsin Rapids. Harlen served his country in the United States Army, in the 101st Airborne Division.
He worked as an electrical maintenance mechanic for Northern Steel Castings until his retirement. Harlen was a kind and gentle man ,
who loved spending time with his family and was especially fond of his grandchildren. He liked to play guitar and sing. He could also tell a good story. Harlen enjoyed working around his home; tinkering out in the garage and tending to his garden. He was an exceptional cook and also liked to play horseshoes. He was a member of American Legion Post 485. He is survived by his wife, Ada of Wisconsin Rapids; seven children: Harlen R. Mork of Arkansas, Cheryl Mork of Wisconsin Rapids, Scott (Melissa) Mork of Spring Lake, Minnesota, Todd Mork of Weston, Kelly (Michael) Hisel of New Glarus, John (Kelly) Mork of Wisconsin Rapids, and Amber (Matt Skibba) Mork of Rudolph; sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Joanne (Art) Thompson of Arizona; and three brothers: Ed (Rose) Mork of Washington state, Dennis (Shirley) Mork of Arizona, and Rodney (Naomi) Goodacre of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Edwin Mork and Carl Goodacre, his mother, Marian, and one infant brother. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the funeral home.
