Chain O’ Lakes Market to open in summer

A new farmers market, Chain O’ Lakes Market, is set to open Memorial Day weekend at the corner of State Highway 22 and Old State Highway 22.

The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, May 28 through Sept. 3.

The Dayton Town Board has given its approval for it to be located on the commercial lot, and vendors are currently being sought to sell such things as locally grown produce, beef and chicken that was raised in the area, and locally made handicrafts including soap, cheese and salsa.

Applications, vendor fees and rules are available online at www.chainolakesmarket.blogspot.com or by emailing [email protected] or by calling Brian Hansen at 715-412-1768.

Registration is also open for craft makers who want to be vendors at the market but cannot commit to every Saturday. At the craft stage, vendors will be able to sign up for up to four market days during the 2011 season, with a fee of $20 per market day.

Musicians are also being sought to play during the market. There is no electricity on the site.

Education is yet another planned aspect of the new market. People interested in educating others about an artisan craft or agriculture may also contact Hansen via email or phone.
