The Weyauwega-Fremont Middle School wrestling team recently completed its seven-week season. The team finished with a 3-3 record in duals and also competed in two tournaments.

Team members include FRONT – Levi Greening, Joey Fritch, Austin Baehnman and Oliver Radtke; MIDDLE – Eddie Wohlt, Dylan Kicherer, Matt Abhold, Jon Morgan, Bailey Balistreire and coach Tim Potratz; and BACK – Sheriden Haase, Bryce Akey, Andy Bork, Jared Radtke, Austin Hammond, Kaleb Sciborski and coach Rich Tomaszewski. Missing is team manager Lorren Magruder.

“The team had a tough time with the weather this season, as we had one tournament and two duals cancelled due to snow,” Potratz said. “That did not stop the 14 boys on the team from working hard in practice to learn new skills and improve as wrestlers. The team started the season 0-3, but came on strong in the second half going 3-0 down the stretch. The group made steady progress and showed a great competitive drive in their matches.”

Oliver Radtke, Fritch, Haase and Abhold led the team in wins, while Abhold, Morgan, Fritch and Haase finished with the most pins. Oliver Radtke, Jared Radtke, Fritch, Haase and Abhold led the team in takedowns, while Balistreire received the team’s Most Improved Wrestler Award.
