Summerfest in Weyauwega

Plans are underway for Weyauwega’s second annual Community Summerfest.

The summer festival, which is being organized by Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega, will be held Sunday, July 24, at the community park, off of U.S. Highway 10.

It is open to the public.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. with a polka mass, featuring the Mel Abright Polka Band. Music will continue until 1:30 p.m.

A pig roast dinner that includes red potatoes, sauerkraut, baked beans, a bun and vegetables will again be prepared by Executive Chef Dylan Maass.

Maass grew up in Weyauwega and always had an interest in cooking. He is currently the executive chef at Bella Vita Ristorante, which is located in the CopperLeaf Hotel in Appleton. He has worked at several other places in the Fox Cities, including The Seasons, and has been featured on Fox 11’s “Living With Amy” show three times.

Maass returns for the community festival as a way to support Weyauwega.

The pig roast dinner will be served from 11 a.m. until it runs out. Carry-outs will be available, with tickets available at the parish office and at First National Bank and M&I Bank, both in Weyauwega.

Hamburgers, hotdogs and refreshments will also be served at the concession stand by the sotball field. In addition, there will be a bake sale.

There will be games for children and a dunk tank. The church softball tournament will begin at 11 a.m.

Bingo will be played from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and horseshoe and Chicago-style dart tournaments will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Contact John Young at 920-407-1775 to participate in the horseshoe tournament, and Brian Brazil at 920-867-3646 to participate in the dart tournament.

The battle of the bands will also begin at 1:30 p.m.

Other aspects of Community Summerfest are a silent auction and raffles.

The silent auction bidding will end at 4 p.m. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a main raffle that includes cash prizes, Green Bay Packers’ collectibles and gift certificates.

Four children’s bikes will also be given away during the afternoon – at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. The winners must be present at the time of the drawing.
