Trinrud, Lavern C.

Lavern C. Trinrud, 88, of Waupaca, formerly of Scandinavia, died Tuesday, July 5th, 2011 at Garden Park House in Waupaca. Lavern was born in Scandinavia , Wisconsin on July 26, 1922, the son of the late Lorin H. and Emma (Knutson) Trinrud. He married Geraldine Huffcut on January 29, 1947 in Oak Park, IL. She preceded him in death on June 29, 2005. Lavern was a Army World War II veteran. He served as a member of the 10th Mountain Division. Lavern was wounded in Italy and was awarded the Purple Heart. He had worked as a farmer, having his own dairy farm in the Town of Scandinavia. Lavern loved the woods, carpentry, deer hunting, and fishing. His true love was ski jumping, where he had competed in several tournaments as a young adult.

He is survived by: Daughters: Cindy (Greg) Oerter, Waupaca; Valerie (Michael) Olson, Scandinavia; Sons: Carl (Ellyn) Trinrud, Colbert, GA.; Keith (Susan) Trinrud, Athens, GA.; Brother: Kenneth (Shirley) Trinrud, King; Brother in law: Harland Bestul, King. Lavern is also survived by ten grandchildren: Nathan and Justin Oerter, Kory, Kara, and Emma Trinrud, Kjersti and Cameron Olson, Erin Thompson, Lindsey Slack, and Talia Kimmerly. He is further survived by six great grandchildren: Sydney and Shelby Oerter, Henry and Sam Slack, and Asher and Raine Trinrud. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Bestul.
Funeral Services were held at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 9th, 2011 the Reverend Mark E. Sabin officiated. Friends called Friday 4-8 PM. at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola and Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment was in the Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Scandinavia, Wisconsin. Memorials may be given to the Scandinavia Lutheran Church Building Fund in Lavern’s name.
