Tourism Commission introduces new postcards

They’re here! The New London Tourism Commission has a new line of quality postcards promoting places and events in New London.

Twenty-seven different cards, along with rotating display racks are available at the Chamber office. Local merchants can display and sell them at a very affordable price.

“Postcards serve a variety of purposes, and they’re one of the least expensive ways to let someone know you’re thinking of them,” said one store clerk. “Postcards are not only a thoughtful way to send a personalized hand written message to friends, they’re also a way to promote the place where you live,” he added.

Just one week after the cards arrived they’re being sold at the New London Area Chamber of Commerce, Familiar Grounds, Cash’s Little Shoppe of Bait, Mosquito Hill Nature Center, and Wolf River Trips and Campgrounds.

During the early stages of the project, Chamber volunteer Carrie Katerzynske approached several area photographers and asked their assistance in attaining images for the postcards. Once the images were attained the tourism commission partnered with Lori Sasse-Jensen, graphic design artist with Office Outfitters to create the cards. Office Outfitters are a member of the New London Area Chamber of Commerce.

“Lori presented many wonderful images that highlight the natural beauty of our area as well as some of the events that are well known in New London,” said Laurie Shaw, Executive Director for the New London Area Chamber of Commerce. “She created some artistic collages that are my personal favorites,” added Shaw. “The feedback we have received so far has been very positive. We are excited to be able to share new London with others.”

The 27 different cards depict the following places and events: the New London Heritage Historical Village (four different varieties that highlight the village), The Wolf River Sturgeon Trail/spawning ritual (two different options), the seasons (four options), Hatten Stadium (collage), the Grand Theatre (collage), the Wolf River (two options), the New Dublin Celebration (three options), Mosquito Hill Nature Center (three options), tubing on the river/camping (three options), City of New London site (four options) and a Powered Parachute.
