Guessing contest winners announced

Winners in the historical guessing contest held during Sidewalk Days by the Clintonville Area Historical Society were announced by Mary Beth Kuester, contest coordinator. Contestants guessed in three categories: Who is this? What is this? And Where is this?

Jackie Baldwin won the “Who is this?” contest. The photo was of Leon “Corky” Steenbock, pictured in his National Guard Uniform in a photo taken 50 years ago. This was the category with the most guesses submitted.

Doris Krueger won the “What is this?” contest. The object was a camel saddle.

Gale Hoffman and Pat Siegel won the “Where is this?” contest. The mystery photo was a 1900’s view of the Kuester house on Eighth Street. The photo was taken before the 1918 high school building was constructed. The earlier St. Martin Church was in the background and provided a clue.

Where there were multiple correct guesses, winners were selected in a drawing.

The door prize winner was Dorothy Peeters of Shiocton.

Prizes were donated by Econo Foods, the Clintonville Chronicle, Culvers and Erickson’s Pharmacy and Erickson’s Home Health. When possible, prizes will be mailed. Some winners will be asked to pick up their prizes.

The guessing contest is an annual event during Sidewalk Days.
