Stern, Ann

Ann Stern age 95, New London died on Monday, August 8, 2011. Ann was born April 27, 1916, in Scandinavia, daughter of the late John and Mabel (Buer) Otterson. She was a 1934 graduate of Scandinavia High and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing, Oshkosh in 1937. Ann came to New London in 1939 and worked at New London Community Hospital as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1980. On June 22, 1941, Ann married Don Stern. Ann and her husband Don started their ceramic business in1967 and stayed in business until the early 1990s . It was called Trollhjem Ceramics because of her Norwegian Heritage. She loved her ceramic classes and taught for many years, she also excelled in china painting and making porcelain dolls. Ann and her husband of 70 years liked to travel. They traveled to Norway, England, Scotland, Ireland and many other European countries, Japan, China, Egypt, the Holy Land and Canada. Ann is survived by her husband Don; sons, Clifford (Patricia) and Charles (Sylvia); grandchildren, Mike (Karen) and Maggie; great grandchild, Anikan. Her sisters: Alice Creely, Chicago, IL; Edna Latsch, Lake Mill; Ruby (Al) Nygard, Thief River Falls; Norma Otterson, Green Bay; a brother, Sidney (Jan) Otterson, LaCrescent, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Irene Wagner, brothers, Clifford and Milo and their spouses.

Funeral services for Ann were held on Friday, August 12, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London the Rev. Brian Hennig officiated. Burial was in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. Visitation was held on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London and also at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
