Maalo, Marilyn J.

Marilyn J. Maalo, 82, of Iola died Tuesday, August 16th, 2011 at Iola Living Assistance. Marilyn was born in Decorah, Iowa on June 20, 1929, the daughter of the late Julius and Josephine (Kolset) Kiel. She married Edward Maalo on August 28, 1954 at the Calmar Lutheran Church in Calmar, IA. Marilyn graduated from the registered nurse’s program from Norwegian American Hospital in 1952. She had worked at Lutheran General Hospital and St. Matthew’s Nursing Home in Park Ridge IL. When Marilyn and Ed moved to Iola on May 1, 1985, she first worked at the Iola Hospital and then the Iola Nursing Home. She had worked as a registered nurse for 47 years. She is survived by

Husband: Edward Maalo; Sisters in law: Irene (Leonard) Haroldson, Iola; Anny Dalland, Waupaca; Brothers in law: Linus Rothmeyer, Calmar, IA, Sterling Thompson, Austin, MN. Marilyn is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by a Son, Kurt Maalo, and two Sisters: Vila Thompson and Else Rothmeyer. Funeral Services were held Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, in Iola, with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Interment was in the Hitterdahl Lutheran Cemetery Town of Iola, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola in Marilyn’s name.
