Oehlke, Mary Lou

Mary Lou Oehlke, age 81, of Waupaca, formerly of Pine River, passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. She was born on April 30, 1930 in Shawano, daughter of the late Cecil and Mable (Viertel) Nelson. On October 26, 1952, she married Harold Oehlke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont. Mary Lou graduated from Weyauwega-Fremont High School in 1948. She worked for Woody’s Cheese in Waupaca, the Weyauwega Star Dairy, and also was an organist at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King for 26 years. Harold and Mary Lou farmed in the Lind Center area for many years. She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in the Town of Lind, where she also taught Sunday School. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold; daughter: Linda (Roger) Tessen; grandchildren: Brad Tessen and special friend Tiffany Winters; Teresa Tessen; and Jodi Tessen (Nelson); great-grandchildren: Tyler Nelson and Shaw Hartke; sister-in-law: Lucille Haase, also her best friend Caroline Brooks. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her parents, brothers Robert and William Nelson, sister-in-law Emerald Nelson, and brothers-in-law Paul Oehlke and Lewis Haase preceded her in death. The funeral service for Mary Lou was held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmaus Lutheran Church in the Town of Lind with Rev. H. William Jordan officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega. Friends called at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Cline-Hanson-Dahlke, 200 S.
