Thompson, Carol Louise (Rozelle)

Carol Louise (Rozelle) Thompson, age 83, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Carol was born on January 25, 1928, to Laurence Charles (Pete) and Mabel Rozelle in New London, WI. One of 6 children growing up in New London, Carol attended New London High School where she met her future husband, John O. Thompson. John and Carol were married on June 29, 1947, at the First Congregational Church of New London. As newlyweds John and Carol were in farming in the Ostrander area outside New London, where they had their 3 children. When the youngest was just 6 months old they moved to Oshkosh. Carol began a long career in professional photography when she and John opened Thompson Studio on High Avenue in Oshkosh in 1954. Carol was a very talented photographic retoucher, and as a member of the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association she won many top awards in print and negative retouching. Carol was also an award-winning photo colorist and served as a judge in various professional competitions. Carol was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church of Oshkosh. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John; son John (Judith) of Largo, FL; son Peter (Katherine) of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Inga (Keith) of San Diego, CA; 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Carol will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Residence Chapel, New London with Rev. Greg Watling officiating.
