Olsen, Julia “June”

Julia “June” M. Olsen, age 95, of Iola, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the Iola Living Assistance. June was born in the Town of Iola, on December 17, 1915, the daughter of the late Teman and Laura (Nelson) Mork. She married Harry Gullikson on December 7, 1935 at the Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. Harry preceded her in death on October 10, 1969. She then married Earl Olsen on May 11, 1974 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola. Earl preceded her in death on March 19, 1999. Harry and June had operated a dairy farm for over 30 years. June later worked at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in food service. After retiring, she took classes in upholstery and cake decorating. June was a member of the Our Savior’s Lutheran women’s circles, Sons of Norway Norkseland Lodge 5-580 and its Norwegian Dancers. She enjoyed cake decorating, upholstery, flower gardening, baking and ceramics. She is survived by: Sons: Donald (Lona) Gullikson, Iola; Jim (Marilyn) Holiday, Plover; Brothers: Clarence Mork, Waupaca; Phillip Mork, Iola; Granddaughters: Karen (Tim) Moore, Appleton; Michele (Scott) Nuttelman, Eau Claire; Sheila (Kelly Worden) Holiday, Stevens Point; Brenda (Nobu Araki) Holiday Lee, Versailles, KY; Cynthia Holiday, Chicago, IL; Great Granddaughter Hannah Lee, Versailles, KY; Nieces, other relatives and friends. June was preceded in death by: 2 Brothers, Ole and Ludvig Mork, 4 Sisters: Ella Nielson, Olga Mork, Loretta Nueske, and Alma Flater. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Interment was in the Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Scandinavia, Wisconsin. The Voie Funeral Home of Iola assisted the family with arrangements.
