A 42-year-old woman from Rural was killed in a crash shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the town of Waupaca.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department said Kimberly A. Huber was southbound on State Highway 49 when she failed to negotiate the curve at Nelson Road, went onto the shoulder, turned the wheel too sharply and rolled the vehicle over into the ditch, slamming into a telephone pole.
The coroner’s office pronounced Huber dead at the scene.
A passenger, Jeffrey C. Preuss, 38, Iola, suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was taken by ambulance to Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca.
Authorities say alcohol and inattentive driving may have been factors in the crash. They reported finding several cold and unopened cans of beer and some empty beer cans in the vehicle.
