Area runners compete at state

Four area runners wrapped up their 2011 cross country season Saturday, Oct. 29, at the state meet in Wisconsin Rapids.

New London senior Macy Egan placed 68th in the girls’ Division 1 race with a time of 15:44.7.

A pair of Clintonville runners competed in the girls’ Division 2 race. Junior Samantha Hohn placed 39th in 15:46.55, while freshman Brianna Gretzinger was 64th in 16:09.44.

Iola-Scandinavia sophomore Emily Sether made her first trip to state and placed 42nd in the girls’ Division 3 race with a time of 16:22.48.

Hartland Arrowhead swept Division 1 by winning the boys’ and girls’ team championships. Wisconsin Lutheran (boys) and Dodgeville/Mineral Point (girls) placed first in Division 2, while Darlington (boys) and Oshkosh Lourdes (girls) captured Division 3 titles.

Freedom’s boys and girls placed seventh and third, respectively, in Division 2, while Rosholt’s boys’ team placed fifth in Division 3.
