WVH in King to observe Veterans Day

The Wisconsin Veterans Home in King will host its Veterans Day observance at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in the Marden Memorial Center.

The theme for this year is honoring women veterans.

The Waupaca High School choir, under the direction of Kira Morrissey, will perform and WHS band members Stanford Mitchell and Kierstan Leaf will sound Taps.

The Wisconsin Veterans Home King Honor Guard and the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Military Funeral Honors Team will post colors.

This year’s speakers are Commandant Mary Hansen, state Rep. Kevin Petersen and retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Nancy Kaczor.

Kaczor served more than 26 years with the Air Force, retiring in 2007. Among the awards and decorations she earned were Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit and Bronze Star. She served in various leadership positions at base, wing, major command, and combatant command levels.
