Maxson, Raymond

Raymond V. Maxson, of Waupaca, age 90, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home.

He was born in Jackson, MI on July 2, 1921 to the late Wilbert and Essie (Bassett) Maxson. On October 5, 1942 he married Ruby Jean Christian, she preceded him in death on October 2, 1967. On January 31, 1969 he married Rita Jochimsen, she preceded him in death on December 18, 1991. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Engineer 1283rd protrolmen; March 1942 until February 1945. He served in France and the Philippines. Ray was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3153, American Legion Post 0161, and DAV Post 18. Ray worked for Crippen Machine & Tool in Jackson, MI and then for Chilton Metal Products in Chilton for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He will be sadly missed by his children: Barbara (Terry) Teske of Waupaca; Joanie (John) Hobbs of Fort Collins, CO; John Jochimsen of New Holstein; Howie (Linda) Jochimsen of Kiel; Mary (Gordon) Manderscheid of New Holstein; Ken (special friend, Jenny) Jochimsen of Ellensburg, WA; grandchildren: Tim (Erin), Stacy (Clint), Brian, Brenda, Jeff, Jackie, Kari, Mike, Kelly, Kate, Kristen and Rachel, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Dan Maxson and grandson, Keith. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 4 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca. The visitation was on Tuesday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Military Honors followed. Burial is in Chilton Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
