Contrasting a local board with national leaders

Congratulations to Farmington Town Board for reducing our tax levy. We need a new town hall, so the board is saving up for it instead of borrowing. Reminds me of a time when elected officials used common sense and respected taxpayers by saving money. When you talk to board members you feel they actually like us; and not just as a source of revenue.

Contrast this with the leaders of Washington, D.C. The Obama Administration averages a debt increase of $1.5 trillion a year. President George Bush averaged less than half that. Our children will never be able to pay this off.

President Barack Obama doesn’t really seem to like us all that much. On Nov. 12, in Honolulu, he said, “We’ve been a little bit lazy over the past couple of decades.” Last month in San Francisco he said, “We’ve lost our ambition, our imagination and our willingness to do the things that built the Golden Gate Bridge.” Obama saves a very special disdain for us country folk who “cling to our guns and our religion.” Remember when his wife said, “This is the first time in my adult life I have been proud of my country.”

The Obamas regard themselves as “citizens of the world.” That’s why they gladly give the United Nations more power over U.S. citizens. That’s why Obama is trying to work a deal to give U.S. taxpayer money, through the International Monetary Fund, to bail out Greece and Italy. Experts estimate Obama will give Europe $200,000 of our tax dollars, for starters.

We need a leader who will act for U.S. taxpayers, give us access to our own oil and gas and stop blocking pipelines to bring oil from the north. The Obama Administration has blocked a pipeline from Canada and now won’t allow a bridge to be built to bring oil from our own oil reserve in Alaska. When gas goes up again, you can thank President Obama. Under Obama it would be impossible to get the permits to build the Golden Gate Bridge.
