Magdanz, Gertrude

Gertrude M. (Mundinger) Magdanz, age 96, of Pine River, WI, died on Tuesday, January 03, 2012 at Bethany Home in Waupaca. She was born on July 16, 1915, in the Town of Bloomfield, the daughter of the late Albert and Dora (Henschel) Mundinger. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield. On May 25, 1940, Gertrude married Elmer Magdanz at St. John’s Lutheran Church, East Bloomfield. Together they celebrated 56 years together, before Elmer passed away on September 27, 1996. Gertrude was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in the Town of Lind, where she taught Sunday School for many years. It was very important to Gertrude to attend church regularly. Gertrude enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed working in her garden and her flowers, and volunteering her time at the Bethesda Thrift Store in Neenah. Gertrude is survived by her son, Robert (Carol) Madanz, Pine River; four grandsons: Ron Magdanz, Dan (Medora) Magdanz, Tim (Special friend, Holly) Magdanz, and Steve (Elly) Magdanz; six great-grandchildren: Brook, Payton, Jessica, Bethany, Bryce and Colby; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jacob; four sisters: Lenora, Clara, Irma and Lucille; and three brothers: Arthur, Albert and Raymond. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Emmaus Lutheran Church, N180 County Rd. A, Waupaca. Rev. H. William Jordan officiated. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery in West Bloomfield. Visitation was held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for Emmaus Lutheran Church. Gertrude’s family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Bethany Home for the excellent care given to Mom during this past year.
