It’s good to get both sides of the picture

In my Dec. 7 letter, I stated 10 facts concerning the achievements of Governor Scott Walker since taking office in January 2011, most of which were accomplished since his budget was passed in June 2011.

Since then, unhappy Democrats have been trying to derail Walker through these ridiculous recall petitions. It was in this light that I wrote some important aspects on the positive, pro-active side that aren’t written about by the Democrats. I did this in order to promulgate the facts to the public, who otherwise get only one side of the story.

Now, on Dec. 29, this Mr. Forseth nitpicks my factual references to cost savings, ignoring the other several items I covered, including new jobs; $60 million payback to Minnesota, payback to the Wisconsin Families Fund, ending abortion funding by his predecessor, out-of-control spending in Wisconsin, expanding unemployment compensation, etc.

He points out that many of his friends disagree with me. That’s all well and good, and they have a perfect right to do so. As I stated, I pointed out documented facts in my letter in order to create balance in the overall picture. Costs are just one of these facts, but a very real and significant one of them.

Finally, I kindly ask that people please read more, and not to make decisions based on sound bites from either party. We’re living in a fast-track society, and this makes it all the more important to become as educated as we can be.
