Alix, Arvid E.

On Saturday, February 11, 2012, Arvid Alix, West Bloomfield, WI was called to his heavenly home. Arvid fought bladder cancer for 15 years. Three months ago, the cancer moved outside the bladder, and with his wife, Kathy, at his side, he lost his battle with cancer and now claims the victory in Jesus Christ. Arvid Eugene Alix was born on September 13, 1938, in Holcombe, WI, the son of the late Arvid “Gene” and Irma (Hakes) Alix. After graduating from high school in 1957, Arvid joined the Army Reserves for eight years. He worked as a truck driver for P.H. Glatfelter in Neenah, for 42 years, before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed family time, especially hunting season in Ladysmith, WI. Arvid also enjoyed playing cribbage daily with his wife, and going to the casinos. If you drove by his house in the summer, you could see that he liked mowing his lawn! Arvid also looked forward to meeting friends for lunch every day in Poy Sippi. On March 6, 1995, Arvid married Kathy (Borchardt) Robbert in Las Vegas, she survives. Arvid is also survived by a daughter, Cindy, Golden, CO; three sons: Steven (partner, Jorge), Denver, CO; Scott(Fiance, Kandee), San Diego, CA and Tim(Deb), Prescott, AZ; a step-daughter, Barb Robbert, Waupaca; three step-sons, Jim(Fiance, Jenni) Robbert, West Bloomfield; John (JoAnn) Robbert, West Bloomfield; and Jeremiah (Rachael) Robbert, West Bloomfield; five grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren, a sister, Sue (Don) Crank, Holcombe, WI; two brothers, Darrel “Butch” (Sandi) Alix, Appleton; Merle (Sally) Alix, Fremont; a brother-in-law, Ray Guthman, Holcombe, his mother-in-law, Jackie Borchardt, Clarks Mill, WI, a sister-in-law, Debbi Taber, Waupaca; long-time friends, Helen Thern, Jim and Michelle Krueger, and all of his restaurant friends; and Shirl Alix, the mother of his children. He was preceded in death by a sister, Yvonne Guthman, a step-daughter, Mary (Robbert) Bartel, a brother-in-law, Michael Borchardt; and long-time friends, John Thern and Norm and Lucille Pietz. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Emmaus Lutheran Church, Hwy 49 and County Rd. H, Poy Sippi. Rev. Mark R. Meier, Sr, will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established for Emmaus Lutheran Church, Poy Sippi and Christ Ev.
