Thanks for the memories

An elm tree planted on the city square in 1870 was cut down by Simpson Tree Service of Waupaca on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 14.

The tree, which provided shade on the corner and a spot for people to sit under during band concerts, never had leaves last year. Because it was dead, the decision was made to cut it down.
