It is in my interest to raise the legal driving age to 18. I believe that the maturity level of most 16 year olds is not substantially high enough to safely maneuver on roads. I know plenty of people that should not be able to drive due to lack of skill.
Another good thing that would come from this would be fewer drivers on the road, making roads and school roads safer. The 2% may seem small to many, but the traffic in student favorite areas would be substantially lower.
Between 1995- 2004, there were 30,000 crashes in the US in which 15-17 year olds were killed. That comes out to 3000 a year! For the safety of myself and others, I wish the driving age was higher.
