Late payment explained

A late business loan payment to Waupaca County was the result of a check being lost in the mail.

The Feb. 23 County Post reported that Remington Foods in Manawa was among the businesses that were behind on their payments to the county’s revolving loan fund.

Dave Thiel, director of the Waupaca County Economic Development Corporation, told the County Post that Remington Foods’ payments had been caught up in February.

He said Remington mailed a check for payment in October 2010, then learned in January that it had never been cashed.

“Two payments were made in February,” Thiel said.
