73 years of service

Two longtime members of the Waupaca County Board attended their last meeting as elected official Tuesday, March 20.

Supervisor Duane Brown represented the city of New London for 38 years.

First elected to the board in April 1974, Brown became chairman of the board in 1990. He held that position until he stepped down in 2004.

Among his assignments after 2004, Brown served on Finance and Personnel, the Lakeview Manor Board of Trustees and the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission.

Supervisor James Flink represented the city of Marion and part of the town of Dupont for 35 years.

Over the course of his time with the county board, Flink was a member of a number of committees, including Emergency Management, Public Property and the Executive Committee, among others. He also served as chairman of the Law Enforcement and Highway Committees.

Flink will be replaced on the county board by Lee Much, who is running unopposed to fill the vacant seat for the 5th District.

Brown will be replaced by David Neumann, who is running unopposed for the 25th District.
