Lunch & Learn April 10 at Waupaca library

The Waupaca Area Public Library’s next Lunch & Learn program will be held at noon Tuesday, April 10.

Denise Blaze will portray Elizabeth Todd Edwards, sister of Mary Todd Lincoln.

The program is free, open to the public and expected to last about one hour. A light lunch will be served.

Reservations can be made by calling the library’s front desk at 715-258-4414 or online at www.waupacalibrary.org.

Blaze was born and raised in Central Illinois where Abraham Lincoln was an integral part of local history. She began her appreciation of Lincoln lore at an early age.

Her interest began in 1990 when she read her first Mary Lincoln biography. She became hooked and proceeded to read every book about her that she could lay her hands on.

In the mid-1990s, Blaze began participating in Civil War reenactments and giving talks to her children’s classes about the Lincoln Family, which also sparked her love for Civil War era clothing.

In the years to follow, her talks evolved into a unique presentation in which she portrays Elizabeth, Mary’s eldest sister and shares her thoughts and remembrances about Mary’s poignant yet tragic life.
