W-F unbeaten in CWC-8

WEYAUWEGA – Weyauwega-Fremont’s softball team picked up recent wins over Shiocton, Elcho, Amherst and Bonduel, but also dropped its first game of the season to Tigerton.

SHIOCTON – W-F improved to 4-0 in Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play and 6-1 overall Monday, April 16, with a five-inning win over the Chiefs.

The Indians scored three times in the first inning, four times in the second and twice in the third and fifth.

Kerrie Lang had two of the Indians’ six hits, while Kelsey Akey tripled and picked up the complete-game win on the mound.

W-F 7, Elcho 1

MARION – The Indians scored four runs in the first inning at the Marion Invitational and added single runs in the second, third and fifth. Elcho scored its run in the bottom of the seventh.

Tigerton 3, W-F 0

MARION – W-F came up short against the Tigers in another game in Marion.

W-F 9, Amherst 4

WEYAUWEGA – The Indians improved to 3-0 in Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play with a win over the Falcons.

Amherst took a 3-2 lead into the second inning, but the Indians took the lead for good with two runs in the second and added two more in the fourth and fifth to take an 8-1 lead. The Falcons loaded the bases with nobody out in the fifth, but didn’t score.

W-F’s final run came in the sixth and Amherst scored again in the seventh.

Mariah Hulbert and Anna Forslin had three hits and two RBIs each for the Indians, while Teal Tomaszewski added two hits.

W-F 14, Bonduel 10

WEYAUWEGA – Bonduel took a 10-9 lead in the top of the sixth with nine runs, but the Indians answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning.

The Bears opened the scoring with a run in the third, but the Indians countered with seven in the bottom of the inning and added two more in the fifth to take a 9-1 lead.

Forslin had three of W-F’s 10 hits and also drove in four runs, while Kori Looker and Maggie Knecht added two hits each. Akey got the win on the mound.

W-F will host Stevens Point Pacelli today (Thursday, April 19) and Manawa Monday, April 23. Both games will start at 4:30 p.m.
