Fosgate, Frances Abigail

Frances Abigail Fosgate, Waupaca, Wisconsin, 93 years young, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI. She was born to Bryan and Adelaide Hanawalt on May 13, 1918 on their Pine Lake Farm in Wild Rose, Waushara Co., WI. Frances attended grade school on Pine Lake and graduated from Wild Rose High School in 1936. After graduating, she was employed at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King where she met her husband, Edward W. Fosgate. They were married on July 18, 1938, a marriage of 64 years, until Ed’s passing in 2002. Frances enjoyed serving the Lord and was a member of First United Methodist Church for many years, and more recently was a member of Crystal Lake United Methodist Church of Waupaca. She attended church every Sunday where she also taught Sunday School and Bible School at First United Methodist Church, up until being stricken with Alzheimer’s. Frances enjoyed gardening, canning, picking strawberries and making strawberry shortcake, which was a big hit with her family. During the summertime, Frances would take her children to South Park for their yearly swimming lessons, and in later years, the family enjoyed camping in nearby campgrounds. One of her greatest joys was playing and babysitting for her two grandsons before they moved to California and later she would love to visit them in California. She will be deeply missed by all of her loving family. Frances is survived by: daughter, Sharon Dean of Waupaca, WI; son, Larry Fosgate of Waupaca, WI; two grandsons, Robert (Tracey) Pitt of Riverside, CA and Brian Pitt of Conifer, CO; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Pitt of Riverside, CA. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Adelaide Hanawalt; her beloved husband, Edward Fosgate; a son-in-law, Charles Dean; an infant brother, Henry Hanawalt; a brother, Everett (Alice) Hanawalt; her mother-in-law, Daisy Fosgate; two brothers-in-law, Don (Alma) Fosgate and Harold (Beatrice) Fosgate; and three sisters-in-law, Redah (Faye) James, Elnora (Edmund “Beans”) Atkinson, and Mildred (Max) Krautsch. A Graveside Service will be on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Crystal Lake Cemetery in Waupaca, WI. Pastor Jeffrey Fletcher will officiate.
