Pigeon River Classic draws runners

The Pigeon River Classic was held at Olen Park in Clintonville, on Saturday, May 5.

The event was organized by Great Lakes Endurance and is a fundraiser for the Clintonville High School Cross Country running program.

The winners of the half marathon won a pair of running shoes from Montrail.

Terri Schaefer of Green Bay was the overall female winner with a time of 1:35:41. Justin Short of Green Bay was the overall male winner with a time of 1:24:02.

The winners of the 10K race took home Mountain Hardware fleece jackets. Megan Baines, of Milwaukee, and former track and cross country runner for Clintonville High School was the overall female winner with a time of 45:39. Ron Hayes of Oshkosh, was the overall male winner with a time of 39:52.

The winner of the 5K race took home Mountain Hardware fleece jackets. Ces Dawson of Green Bay was the overall female winner with a time of 25:10. Brian Bruckmoser of West Bend was the overall male winner with a time of 21:00.

The winners of the Kids One Mile race also took home Mountain Hardware fleece jackets. Madison Hohn of Clintonville was the overall female winner with a time of 7:12.7. Kyle Tennie of Clintonville was the overall male winner with a time of 7:12.9.

Creative Converting, once again, sponsored a large number of employees who came out and either ran or walked in the 10K or 5K events.

Each participant received a medallion which was hand made by Peggy Johnson’s art students at Clintonville High School. Every year students have handmade the medallions given as awards to the runners.

Post race refreshments were local cherry juice, organic bananas, organic banana and pumpkin breads and backpackers bars.
