Attempted abduction in Clintonville

A 19-year-old woman was the victim of an abduction attempt in Clintonville shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 10.

According to a memo released to the media at noon Wednesday by the Clintonville Police Department, the woman was walking westbound on Green Tree Road near the high school tennis courts when a man traveling eastbound stopped and asked herfor directions.

When the woman approached the vehicle to hear the suspect better, he stepped from the vehicle and reportedly tried to grab her and pull her into the car. The victim said the man struck her in the face after she kicked him. She then fled.

The man chased her a short distance to where she reports she kicked him again and was able to escape. The victim sought refuge at a nearby residence where she remained until police arrived.

The suspect is described as a male, age 25-30 years old, with a brown, full head of hair that is shorter on the sides and longer on top. He is also reported to have stubby facial hair, a diamond-type earring in his right ear, and a deep voice. He was reportedly wearing a royal blue T-shirt with a design and printing on the front, jeans, and brown, foundry-type work shoes.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a light red car with a dull finish but newer looking paint. The vehicle is reported to be a 4-door model, with a quiet muffler and a fin or spoiler on the trunk. The vehicle also featured a black and blue steering wheel cover, a silver hood ornament, and a parking permit type sticker on the driver’s side of the windshield with the number “4782.” The vehicle also reportedly contained a black garbage bag with a shiny “X” on it.

The Clintonville Police Department is asking anyone that recognizes the suspect description or vehicle description to call 715-823-3117 immediately.
