Final paving set for Waupaca’s South Main

City of Waupaca crews are finalizing work on South Main Street in preparation for next week’s final layer of asphalt.

Manholes and water valves are being raised to the correct elevation to match the final asphalt surface, and parkway landscaping was recently completed, including seeding and mulching.

The city will be watering the newly seeded parkways. However, the city encourages all homeowners to assist with watering.

Final asphalt paving is currently scheduled to begin early in the week of July 24.

Street sign installation and pavement striping will be the final work items, prior to opening South Main Street back up to traffic.

The pavement on Lakeside Parkway, between Washington Street and U.S. Highway 10, is set to be rehabilitated this week by Waupaca County Highway Department crews.

Pavement grinding is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 19 and continue for a few days.

Then, beginning early next week, paving will take place on both South Main Street and Lakeside Parkway until the paving work is complete. Lakeside Parkway will not be closed to traffic during this time. Flagmen will control traffic around the pavement work.

The city encourages motorists to keep their speeds down around the construction areas.
