Luce, Lynda Lee

Lynda Lee Luce, age 59, of Waupaca, lost her courageous battle with breast cancer on Friday, August 31, 2012, at home surrounded by her loving family. Lynda was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on October 21, 1952, the daughter of Howard and Mary (Kutcher) Andert. On May 27, 1978, she was united in marriage with Paul Luce. Lynda was an educator in the truest sense of the word. She taught more than 30 years in the Waupaca School District. Subjects that she taught were freshman English and senior College Advanced Placement Courses for Fox Valley Technical College, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh. Her true passion was coaching forensics, where she was nationally known for her outstanding student performances, as well as her leadership in several organizations. She had been president of the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches Association and Catholic Forensics League. She was honored as the Wisconsin Forensics Coach of the Year, Wisconsin Speech Teacher of the Year, the Hillshire Kahn Teacher of the Year, and received the Herb Kohl Teaching Fellowship. Lynda is survived by her husband Paul, son Michael, daughter-in-law Erica (Kreuzer) Luce, daughter Katherine, son-in-law Erik Greenfield and granddaughter Lucy Greenfield, her mother Mary Andert, sister Darlene Andert and very special friend Catherine Luhr. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Andert. A celebration of her life will begin with a visitation from 1 – 5 p.m., with a brief service to follow at 5 p.m., on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Waupaca High School Performing Arts Center. All those attending are encouraged to wear green. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. She will continue to touch the lives of all that knew her through her sense of humor, highest student expectations, and being an advocate for all students. She could find something to like about everyone she met. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her. The family would like to thank everyone for the numerous kindnesses they have exhibited over the past several weeks.
