Griswold, Joyce A.

Joyce A. Griswold, age 77, of New London, died on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Kindred Hearts in New London. She was born on July 8, 1935, in the Town of Union, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Edward and Minnie (Flink) Riske. On October 20, 1956, Joyce married Wayne Griswold in Waupaca. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2005. Joyce was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Dale, where she sang in the choir. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 538 in Hortonville. Joyce was an excellent cook, considering “Dad” used to say she could burn boiling water. She enjoyed many things in life, but especially playing cards with Mavis and Adeline on Mondays, eating at Red Lobster, dancing with Dad, shopping, rhubarb pie and ice cream, trout fishing, Jolly Roger’s Pizza, family Christmas dinners, Black Cows at Charlies, yellow roses, picking and eating strawberries, feeding and watching the birds, especially cardinals and watching the Green Bay Packers. Joyce is survived by her children, Jane (Jim) Cuff, New London, and their children, Jen (Zack), Jason (Nik), Jesse (Heidi) and Jacci; Carver, Oshkosh; and his children, Beth (Dusty), Becca (Jeff), Rochelle (Brennan), Cassandra, Carver, Jr., (Francis); Gale (Brenda), Fremont; and their children, Wayne “Buzz” (Christine), Brandon, Amanda (Joe); Connie (Jeff) Sprenger, Ontario, Canada; and their children, Cassidy (Casey), and William (Lindsay); Georgia (Richard) Dey, New London, and their children, Kaitlyn and Kally; and Sara Zeinert, New London, and her daughter, Morgan. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Tristan, Ethan, Beau, Andrew, Allan, Colton, Ariel, Hailey (on the way), and Tyler; a sister, Shirley (Dennis) Behn, Waupaca; three brothers, Elmer (Pat) Riske, Fond du lac; Everett Riske, Fond du lac and Jerry (Joyce) Riske, Texas; four sisters-in-law: Judy Riske Lienhard, Arizona; Dorothy Christiansen, Sturgeon Bay; Virginia Seefeld, New London; and Lola Kaczor, Cecil; special friends, Kevin (Cecilia) McKee and their family and Little Jimmie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Joyce was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amanda; two brothers, John Christiansen and Norman “Tiny” Riske; a sister, Janice (Wayne) Dunham; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald Kaczor, Loren (MaryElyn) Griswold, Butch Seefeld, Bud (Mary Jane) Marten, Art (Doris) Dobberstein and Nancy Riske. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 6:00 PM at Zion United Church of Christ in Dale. Rev. James Deckert will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Monday at the church from 4:00 PM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established. Joyce’s family would like to extend a very special Thank You to her Southern Care Hospice Team, Sharon, Brad, Lisa, Jackie, Karlee, Sarah, Nicole and Lora.
