Foundations for Living hosts benefit

Foundations For Living will Host Hope For The Homeless from 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Crystal Falls Banquet Hall, 1500 Hanschke Drive, New London.

The benefit will help raise funds for the non-profit agency that serves individuals and families in Waupaca County whose lives are in transition.

Most of the clients Foundations For Living served in the past nine months were in need of safe housing but unable to obtain it due to insufficient income, criminal history, or bad credit. The group hopes to raise at least $15,000.

Lynda Babino, board vice president and client services coordinator. said $15,000 will provide a good financial base to be able to establish and maintain two transitional living houses, one for women and one for men, over the next year,,

“Having housing available will enable Foundations For Living to offer the clients we work with a safe place to live as they move from where they are, in transition, to where they want to be, independent, self-reliant, and confident citizens,” Babino said.

This event also marks the end of Foundations For Living’s Walk for Hope that began in June

. “We have had 20 people faithfully walking 6.2 miles each day since June to help raise money for housing,” said board president Krisann Marcy. “This event will be a chance for us to celebrate their success and say thank you for their help in supporting the cause”.
