Hass, Wolves defense shine in big win over Wittenberg-Birnamwood

The Manawa Wolves posted a convincing 42-3 win over the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers on Friday, Sept. 21.

Manawa scored eight in the first quarter and erupted for 28 more in the second quarter. Wittenberg-Birnamwood didn’t score until the fourth quarter, kicking a field goal. Manawa scored six in the final frame.

The Wolves rolled up 338 yards on the ground and 49 through the air. The Wolves defense intercepted one pass and recovered two fumbles.

Logan Hass had a huge game for Manawa, gaining 235 yards on 20 carries with three touchdowns. He also returned two kickoffs for 35 yards and five punts for 39 yards. Garret Griffin added 20 yards on six carries with a touchdown, while Luke Wilz gained 44 yards on four carries with a touchdown. Tanner Meyer carried one time for 33 yards.

Donny Sell completed five of 13 passes for 49 yards with one interception. Defensively, Sell intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.

The Wolves will host Iola-Scandinavia for their Homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 28. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
