Concert, film festival planned

Wega Arts is planning several events in Weyauwega during the next couple months.

Among them are a watercolor class with lartist Laurel Geyer, the inaugural concert of the Waupaca Area Orchestra and the 2nd Annual Weyauwega International Film Festival.

The watercolor class will be held from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, with a 45-minute break for lunch.

The cost is $20. People may bring their own materials; some will be available at the opera house.

The concert is set for Saturday, Nov. 3, in the historic Gerold Opera House in downtown Weyauwega.

The program will consist of Rossini’s Overture to “The Italian Girl in Algiers,” Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 2, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A Major.

The orchestra will be led by Artistic Director David Cole. He has conducted at the University of Utah, Southern Utah University and Northern Michigan University.

Tickets are $10 in advance and available at The Coffee Klatsch in Weyauwega and the Book Cellar in Waupaca. Tickets are $15 at the door.

The film festival will be held Thursday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Gerold.

Plans call for more than 35 films from throughout the world to be screened, including Wisconsin films.

Festival tickets are $9 per day or $25 for a festival pass.
