Abendroth, Marjorie

Marjorie “Marge” C. Abendroth, of Waupaca, age 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Crystal River Nursing Home. She was born in the Town of Dover, WI on October 13, 1924, to the late Theodore and Mary (Harter) Hegeman. She was the last of 14 children. Marge was a hard worker who not only raised a family, but worked outside of the home waitressing. She had served as the Assistant Post Master in Rochester, WI as well. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and traveling with her husband Grey. Cribbage was her favorite past-time and she especially loved playing endless games with her son-in-law, Stan. She lived in the Racine County area for most of her life before relocating to Waupaca in 2005. She was a former resident of Park Vista. Marge will be dearly missed by her three children: Sharon Cerne of Waupaca, Rick (Marlene) Schmidt of Elkhorn and Tani Abendroth (Werner Hein) of Janesville; grandchildren: Karen (David) Lunde, Steven (Amanda) Cerne, April (Matt) Schoeller and Paul Schmidt; four great-grandchildren: Sebastian and Zander Cerne, Rilee Mae and Ryan Schoeller. Marge is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Edwin Schmidt; husband, Grey Abendroth; infant daughter, Pam; son-in-law: Stan Cerne; and great-granddaughter, Siddalee Cerne. The funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Maple Crest Funeral Home, with Father Paul Vanden Hogen officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will be next to her husband Grey at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King, WI at a later date.
