Taxpayers in the city of Weyauwega will not see an increase in the city’s mill rate.
When the Common Council met on Nov. 26, it approved a 2013 city expenditure budget of $1.759 million.
The approval came following a public hearing on next year’s city budget. The 2013 budget compares to the current city budget of $1.762 million.
Next year’s budget will be supported by a city tax levy of $796,700.42, which compares to the current levy of $796,418.83.
The city’s 2013 mill rate will be $8.16 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, which is the present mill rate.
Interim City Administrator Bill Forrest told the council the budget includes the assumption of a 3 percent salary increase for employees.
However, the city’s Finance Committee will be discussing the 2013 cost-of-living increase and bring a recommendation back to the council.
Forrest also told the council the city should plan for a reassessment in 2014.He estimated the cost of a reassessment to be $30,000.
