Wolves declaw Tigers

With a strong effort in all four quarters, the Manawa Wolves boys’ basketball team earned its second victory of the season, defeating Tigerton on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

The two teams were closely matched through the first half. Manawa took an 8-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Wolves again outscored the Tigers by two points in the second quarter, 11-9 to take a 19-15 halftime lead.

The second half was a different story, as the Wolves outscored Tigerton 12-5 in the third quarter and pulled away by scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter. Tigerton scored 12 points in the final quarter to leave the final score at 53-32.

Wesley Krauss led the way for the Wolves, scoring 13 points. Alex Thompson added 12 points, while Brady Osterling chipped in with seven points.

Manawa’s defense created 25 steals, with Drew Meyer leading the way with nine steals. Manawa also held a 60-21 rebound advantage over Tigerton. Thompson had a team-high 14 rebounds.

Manawa will host Wittenberg on Thursday, Dec. 6.
