Flease ready to lead Bulldogs

The Bulldog girls’ basketball team has won state titles the last two seasons, going undefeated last year.

New coach Andrea Flease will work with the team this year as they seek to continue their dominance.

The Lady Bulldogs steamrolled the Bay Conference last year, posting a 16-0 record in conference play and a 28-0 overall record as they won the state title for the second consecutive year.

Tara Knapstein, Coral Managan, Bridget Pethke, Morgan Steinert, Emily Steffanus and Heather Paalman were all lost to graduation, but a strong squad will step up to fill their shoes.

Brenna Heise and Megan Schlieve will provide senior leadership for the Lady Bulldogs, while juniors Mickey Roland, Lexi Roland, Cambria Fitzgerald, Gretl Steingraber, Amber Pethke and Caitlin Schmidt will be contributors to this year’s team.

Sophomores Maddie Schroeder, Alycia Halvorson and Andrea LeNoble are expected to contribute, along with freshman Cassidy Pethke.

“This season we are looking to work hard on the defensive side of the floor. On the offensive end of the floor we want to work as a unit and create shots that fit each girl individually. We are a young team that is looking to improve as the season goes on, but working hard every step of the way,” said Flease. “We are looking to compete in each game with our best effort and we will see where that takes us.”
