Love Lights raises $4,000

More than $4,000 was raised through the annual Love Lights at Iola Living Assistance (ILA).

The Love Lights ceremony on Dec. 6 was attended by residents, family members, staff and friends, with a standing room only crowd.

The first Love Lights fundraiser was held in 2001, according to ILA Administrator Greg Loeser.

He noted the total raised over the 12 years exceeds $45,000.

All donations are used for special adaptive equipment, programming or services that directly benefit the ILA residents.

“Your donations go to things that directly benefit the residents, not to the operation of the nursing home,” Loeser stated.

The Love Lights ceremony included reading of the names under which the Christmas tree lights and ornament donations were made in honor or in memorial.

Fundraising included a rosette sale and bake sale, with items donated by the staff and community members.

Christmas music and a sing-along were provided by the Hitterdahl Lutheran Church Choir.
