Fire at Walker Forge

A tank of quenching oil got hot at Walker Forge in Clintonville at about 6:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and started on fire.

One section of the plant was evacuated and the Clintonville Fire Department responded to put it out.

Several of the workers who were evacuated said they were told to get out for fear of an explosion. This picture was taken after foam was applied to the fire to put it out and they were venting the smoke and steam from the building.

A company official said nobody was injured in the fire, though some repairs to a furnace in the plant will be needed.
