Grant offered for sustainable neighborhood project

The Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region is accepting proposals for an environmentally sustainable neighborhood demonstration project.

The project is eligible for up to $50,000 in grant funding.

To qualify, a neighborhood will demonstrate such sustainable techniques as rain gardens, alternative energy, native plantings and safe walking and bicycling routes.

The lead applicant must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit working in partnership with other organizations. The project must be located within the Community Foundation’s service area of Outagamie, Calumet, Waupaca and Shawano counties

Applicants must contact David Horst at the Community Foundation to state their interest by Jan. 31. Those who are invited to proceed must complete and submit a full application by March 1. A request for proposals is available at www.cffoxvalley.org/environment.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors recently identified environmental sustainability as a crucial issue facing our community and set aside grant funding for high-impact projects addressing this focus area.
