After-dark snowshoe walks scheduled at Mosquito Hill

The secluded, wooded trails of Mosquito Hill Nature Center will be the site for two torch-lit snowshoe walks on Saturday, Jan. 12 and Feb. 16 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The walks feature a leisurely, self-paced 45-minute excursion into the center’s Wolf River lowland forest followed by refreshments.

Usually accessible only in the winter, the nature center’s lowland forest is home to deer, coyote, fox, owls and other seldom seen native animals. Participants will enter this wild area following lighted tiki torches along the easy trails. Listen for barred owls or coyotes calling, and view the moon and stars while enjoying the outdoors with family and friends. Hot beverages and snacks will be served in the center’s interpretive building.

The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for students, seniors and Friends of Mosquito Hill, or $25 per household, and includes snowshoe rental. A $2 discount is offered to participants who bring their own snowshoes. Advance registration and payment are due by January 5. Call 920-779-6433 or visit www.mosquitohill.com for details.
