Bulldog grapplers win over Seymour

The New London Bulldogs traveled to Seymour to face the Thunder in a Bay Conference wrestling dual on Thursday, Jan. 3. New London emerged victorious by a 40-30 margin.

At 106 pounds, Skylar Moderson earned a 3-0 decision over Bennett Temple.

Seymour won the next two matches at 113 pounds and 120 pounds. New London’s Anna Malueg lost by tech fall at 113 pounds, and Jake Close lost by major decision at 120 pounds.

Paul Sorenson won by major decision over Seymour’s Noah Scott by a score of 11-3. Texas Herter followed that match with a pin over Seymour’s Matt Eisch.

Seymour’s Clayton VanLanen pinned New London’s Carlos Enamorado at 138 pounds.

New London’s Austin Wyngaard picked up a 12-1 major decision over Jake Arndt at 145 pounds, and Andrew Moser pinned Seymour’s Marcus Cornelius at 152 pounds.

Seymour’s Matthew Dessart earned a 7-5 decision over New London’s Tommy Thurber at 160 pounds, but Brett Handschke avenged that loss by pinning Seymour’s Dalton Thomas at 170 pounds.

New London’s Andrew Clauss won by tech fall over Seymour’s Alex Everard at 182 pounds, and Austin Postel picked up a forfeit win at 195 pounds.

Seymour’s Kevin Vandenlangdenberg pinned Justin Behnke in their match at 220 pounds.

The Thunder picked up a forfeit win at 285 pounds, but the Bulldogs captured a 40-30 victory.

“It was a big win for us. I can’t remember how long it has been but I know it has been a while since we’ve beaten Seymour,” said Coach Bryon Prey. “Our team wrestled great!”

The Bulldogs travel to Hortonville on Thursday, Jan. 17. The meet is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
