Peterson, James “Jim” Leroy

James “Jim” Leroy Peterson, age 85, Town of Little Wolf, Manawa, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.

He was born on May 22, 1927 in Ogdensburg, son of the late Irvin and Clara (Carlson) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Ogdensburg Lutheran Church. On October 27, 1952 he married Ihla Nelson at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa where he was currently a member. Jim was a farmer in the Town of Little Wolf where he lived most of his life. He was well known throughout the area as the “Deep Rock delivery man” as he worked for the Sturm and Jensen Oil Co. retiring at the age of 65. In retirement he enjoyed restoring Farm-all tractors. He, along with his wife, liked traveling with his family and his good friends Louis and Dorothy Hass. He was very special to all his family especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved having all of them surround him looking forward to the holidays. He had a very special little dog, Macy.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ihla; his children: all of Manawa, Linda (Steve) Bauer and their children: Matthew (Allison) Bauer, Alissa (Dan) Truel, Gena (Ryan) Gullixon, Jeremy Bauer and special friend Katie; Cheri (Randy) Hass and their children: Jesse (Julie) Hass, Luke Hass and special friend Tiffany; Rick Peterson and his children: Dana (Corey) Bogenschutz, Tony, Jana and Austin Peterson; Lana and Duane Draeger and their children; Cara (Jeremiah) Johnson, Briana and Kali Draeger; Kay and Mark Suehs and their children: Nicki (Luke) Seeger, Brandon Suehs, Shauna (Kris) Zielke; great-grandchildren: Brock, Parker and Broghan Gullixon, Gavin Bauer, Bracyn and Rohan Hass, Alex and Rhys James Bogenschutz, Aubrie, Emrey, Cashton and Brihla James Seeger, Christiana and Ashland Suehs, Brayden and Brystal Zielke. Future arrivals, Baby Gullixon and twin baby girls Truel; sisters: Dorothy (George) Nelson and Vivian Losselyong; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harry Nelson, Emery (Betty) Nelson; a special friend Lori Suehs and many other nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene (Lloyd) Schimke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Don Losselyong, Millie (Burton) Malnory, Jeanette Nelson and Eppie Nelson; granddaughter Tanna Hass; nieces Lori Schimke, Judy Klegg and Carol Nelson.

The funeral service for Jim will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Thomas Theama officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. A visitation for Jim will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 2-5 p.m. at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa, and also at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials are preferred for Zion Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank Pastor Thomas Theama, Dr. Earl Anderson, Crystal River Nursing Center, Riverside Medical Center and the Waupaca EMT’s for their care and concern of Jim.
