Waupaca’s Spelling Bee champs

Four local students are headed to the CESA 5 Regional Spelling Bee in Amherst on Feb. 12.

The 33rd annual Waupaca School District Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Waupaca Middle School.

Nearly 60 students in third through eighth grades participated in the event.

The 2013 Waupaca Spelling Bee champions are sixth-graders Anna Ryder and Alex Thuerman; the eighth-grade winners are Dakota Marlega and Micaela Porod.

The following students also participated in the local spelling bee:

Grade 3: Grant Abrahamson, Hudson Bodenheimer, Cecelia Harms, Gabriel Klug, Toliver Madajczyk, Caleb Mullet, Hailey Sych and Maci Tripp

Grade 4: Cody Abhold, Brecken Angsten, Kyra Berg, Elizabeth Boehnlein, Erica Byers, Dyani Larson, Aiden Loehrke, Aaron Monday and Aiden Schueller

Grade 5: Sam Grall, Autumn Heisler, Payton Lederhaus, Connor McCausland, Colin Studinski, Sawyer Sopa, Tristan Schuler-Jones and Catie Townsend

Grade 6: Chloe Buster, Colby Nimmer, Anna Ryder, Caleb Schuelke, Alex Thuerman, Gunner Tripp, Mady Waid and Forrest Ziebell

Grade 7: Vaughn Barden, Courtney Jensen, David Johnson, Sean McKibben, Sandra Olvera, Bailey Seefeldt and Alyssa Townsend
