Tschurwald, Edna E.

Edna E. Tschurwald, 97, Iola, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Iola Living Assistance.

Edna was born in Town of Harrison, Waupaca County, Wisconsin on September 25, 1915, the daughter of the late Harry and Hattie (Bucholtz) Helgeson. She married Lester Tschurwald on November 14, 1934 at the Hitterdahl-Northland parsonage. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1978. Edna was known for her baking and cooking, especially her doughnuts. She enjoyed making lefse and all of the Norweigan pastries. She was an infamous card player. Edna was the first woman to hold an office at the Northland Lutheran Church, that being the treasurer. She was very active and involved in many activities at the church.

She is survived by her children: Ronald (Sally) Tschurwald , of New London; JoAnn (Ron) Rychwalski, of Oak Creek; Darrell (Laurel) Tschurwald, of Manitowish Waters and a sister: Phyllis (Lloyd) Solberg of West Allis. Edna is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death a by: son, Richard; seven sisters: Bertha Jenson, Edith Gutho, Inga Grove, Gladys Sorenson, Vernice Leer, Ruby Johnson, and Hazel Solberg and three brothers: Alvin, Charles and Eugene Helgeson.

Funeral Services will be held at Northland Lutheran Church, Iola, Wisconsin, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 31, 2013 with Reverend Dan Somers officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in the Northland Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Harrison. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to the Northland Lutheran Church. Register Book and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.voiefuneralhome.com.
