I-S School Board agrees to new admninistrator

David Dyb of Lodi will be offered the district administrator position for the Iola-Scandinavia School District.

The announcement was made after the I-S School Board returned from closed session following its monthly meeting on Monday.

If Dyb accepts the position, he will replace interim district administrator Duane Braun.

He currently is the principal at Lodi Area Middle School. He previously had been assistant principal and middle/high school principal for Markesan District Schools. Prior to that, he taught at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District.

Dyb is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Edgewood College.

He was one of three finalists interviewed for the position. The other two finalists were Cari Guden and Jon Warmke.

Other business

High/Middle School Principal Sara Anderson reported that the web filter was changed last Friday afternoon.

“For the most part, it went very well,” she said. “A lot of people did a lot of good work in three hours time.”

Elementary Principal Tess Lecy-Wojcik announced that the school’s Science Fair will be held March 7.

Braun said that an all-county emergency management meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Mishler Room at the I-S Community Fitness & Aquatic Center. Waupaca County Emergency Management Director Andy Carlin will be attending, along with approximately 12 other law enforcement personnel and representatives of Waupaca County school districts.

Charlie Wasrud reported that the Building and Grounds Committee met prior to the board meeting to discuss Focus on Energy suggestions for the school district. The committee also discussed speaker system options for the football field.

Wasrud said that the committee is not ready to make any recommendations to the board at this time.

The board approved several position contracts as presented by the Personnel and Nominations Committee. Included was a head baseball coaching contract for Peter Timdal, who is currently an assistant football coach.

Assistant baseball coaching contracts were approved for Steve Niemi and Rick Hansen, who will share the salary.

The board also approved a district secretary position at three hours per day for Tammy Bauer.
