Lifestyle changes focus of diabetes class

A free class will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Riveside Medical Center.

Held in the Health and Wellness Department at RMC’s 900 Building , the class will highlight how lifestyle changes can prevent diabetes from occurring as well as help to treat diabetes.

“People realize the importance of lifestyle changes for overall health improvement,” said Marci Reynolds, RN, CDE and supervisor of health and wellness at RMC. “It is amazing how just making little changes can make a significant impact.”

During the program, a certified diabetes educator will give an overview of pre-diabetes, diabetes and how healthy changes can work for both.

For instance, those with pre-diabetes can learn how to make changes that can help turn numbers around. And those with diabetes can learn how diet and exercise can help them manage the disease.

“Our goal is to equip people with the tools they need to take charge of their health,” said Reynolds.
