Musky Magic planned in New London

NEW LONDON – Wisconsin’s premier game fish will be highlighted by featured speakers, including Mike Hulbert, an Indiana fishing guide with 18 years experience, during the 25th annual Musky Magic.

The event takes place Sunday, March 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the New London Middle School.

This daylong expo offers opportunities to learn about musky fishing from featured speakers, professional guides, and tackle manufacturers. Scheduled are poolside demonstrations, door prizes, raffles and plenty of time to visit with exhibitors round out the day. Dozens of manufacturers will display and sell their baits and musky equipment. On-the-water lure demonstrations will take place in the New London Community Pool across the street from the middle school.

Hulbert, who guides throughout northern Indiana, Lake St. Clair and northern Minnesota, will kick off the afternoon of guest speakers with his presentation, Musky Mastery, at 1:15 p.m. Hulbert is a field editor and writer for Musky Hunter Magazine and films with Jim Saric on Musky Hunter TV several times a year. He travels around the Midwest and presents more than 25 seminars annually.

A mini seminar, Green Bay Musky: Current Trends & Hot Spots, will be presented by Kevin Pischke at 2:45 p.m. Pischke has been fishing muskies for 13 years. His Coast Guard operator’s license allows him to guide on the Fox River and Green Bay, his preferred fishing destinations. Pischke is also Field Editor for Muskie magazine.

The final presentation of the day features Dan Lazzeroni, a guide from Laona who caught “musky fever” at the age of 10 years. Lazzeroni guides in Price, Iron, Ashland and Oneida counties.

He is also an accomplished speaker and tournament pro and has several wins and placements in musky tournaments and club outings. Lazzeroni’s presentation, Big Lake Strategies and the Right Rod for Presentation, starts at 3:45 p.m.

Special raffles will be held during the afternoon and door prizes will be awarded throughout the day.

Grilled hamburgers, bratwurst and BBQ beef sandwiches, homemade cookies, a variety of snack foods and beverages will be for sale.
